I have liked singing and performing in various school performances since I was a child. Therefore, I decided to take part in the English song school competition “YOU CAN SING”. I took part in it for the first time as a class V student. I chose the Beatles song “Here comes the sun”. Unfortunately, my first competition could not be considered successful, because I didn’t go through the preliminaries. I have to admit that it discouraged me a little and I decided not to take part in it the following year.
In the meantime I started to learn solo singing and when I was on vacation I took part in karaoke performances. It helped me a lot to overcome stage fright. When I returned to school in the seventh grade after the holidays, I decided to try my hand at the competition again. This time I decided to choose a song much more difficult to sing. It was Adele's song “Rolling in the deep”. I did much better and reached the final. I didn't take the place on the podium, but I was glad. These performances allowed me to believe in my skills and gave me a lot of satisfaction.
This year's competition was to be particularly important to me, because as an 8th grade student I could take part in it for the last time. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic the competition did not take place. I am very sorry about that because I won't be able to perform in it anymore.
That's why I decided to share with you a recording of my performance of the song, with which I was going to take part in the competition. I ask you to see me singing Tom Jones's song entitled “Delilah”.
