I am impressed by…. Warsaw underground system

by Michał Nowakowski, 8d

Warsaw underground is the only system of rapid tube transport in Poland. The first section of this beautiful underground kingdom was opened for people in 1995, after 12 years of building. Citizens could travel from Kabaty to Politechnika – 11 km of tunnels.

That was the first big move to construct the underground railway system in the capital city. From that moment on, completing the M1 line had taken 13 years.

How does the system look like?

Now, in April 2020, we can use almost 36 km of underground, 34 stations and two lines of it. Every day, trains help 673 thousand people to move along the city. Not so long time ago, new 3 stations in Wola district were given to the public. In my opinion, they are just amazing! The lights, the beautiful design is just perfect and breathtaking. The trains are clean, comfortable and pretty. The stations are nice, too. The next advantage is that this type of public transport is even faster than personal cars. They have to wait in traffic jams while fast trains move over 60 km/h under the street`s level.

In my opinion, the biggest disadvantages are: terrorist attacks and the size of underground. Let’s focus on the first problem. When a fool is leaving in a hurry his baggage on a platform, the antiterrorists immediately arrive to the endangered station and block it for the whole day. It’s really annoying and stressful. The second problem is the size of our underground lines. In Prague, inhabitants can use 3 lines. In Berlin – ten lines. In Budapest, a city that is smaller than Warsaw, there are two times more lines than in our capital city! How is it possible? Maybe they aren`t as nice as ours, but they are larger.

In my opinion, Warsaw underground system is a good one. It’s clean (not as in New York), nice-looking and fast.

I would definitely recommend every visitor and citizen of Warsaw to use it instead of creating traffic jams and pollution in the center of Poland. Decisively ,you must visit it !

At the end, I will show you the face of the underground system in Warsaw.
