Michael Jordan, Walt Disney- we all know these names but..
what were the beginings of the two icons?
Michael Jordan
He was born on February 17, 1963 in New York. I think he’s the most popular and the best basketballer in the world. But how did he do it? It was a hard, long way to go to become an NBA player or be a record holder. In 2014 he earned 100 million dollars.
Initially he was playing basketball with his brother Larry in the garden. Michael was always losing. He was trying football or baseball. When he was in high school he tried to be in school basketball club but he was too short. Jordan only should carry bags for older players. He felt ashamed. But he never gave up. After that he kept achieving only successes.
At the turn of 1984/85 he was invited to play in NBA stars match. Then he was announced the best player of the season. In next seasons he was successful too. He became a star. He was acting in film ,,Space Jam” liked by everyone.
I think he was very clever too. He said:
"Thanks to your talent, you can win matches, but it is intelligence and team play that make the championship win." or "Before you achieve something, you must first demand it of yourself." That shows that you have to work a lot to be a winner like him.
Walt Disney
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago and he died on December 15, 1966 in Los Angeles. He was the creator of Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck and many more characters. He invented Disney Land too. Today The Walt Disney Company earns 3 milliards dollars yearly! But how did he start?
When he was young his dad always beat him. It turs out that Walt had been probably adopted. He was frustrated. In school he wasn’t a very good student, but he was really good at art lessons.
He started with working in newspaper, but his boss dismissed him. He said that Disney didn’t have enough creativity! He changed job many times. For example, he was a waiter in a train. He began to succeed only in the field of film.
Walt Disney didn’t really have a good life but he kept going and now everybody knows his name. He said: ,,The way to start is to stop talking and take action” and I think it’s beautiful.
We have our dreams too! Check the dream maps of 6A students:)
